Web Service has enabled a new era in computing. As a server side application, it communicates with other applications to exchange data as needed. Web Services being platform independent, any type of application can communicate with those using a standard data exchange format. With the advancement of communication technologies, most of applications need to connect with other platform-specific applications and / or interchange data with external sources. Web Services enable that across platforms using standard data formats, security, and reliable messaging.
Depending on the business needs, Web Services can be developed using either SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) or REST (Representational State Transfer) depending on the scenario. SOAP web services are XML-based, whereas RESTful web service supports XML and JSON data exchange formats that makes it more interoperable than a SOAP-based web service.

SARANGSoft has been developing secured, scalable, robust, and high performance Web Services as part of various software projects.
On the Microsoft .NET platform, we develop Web Services with ASP.NET and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) – a modern technology for developing service-oriented applications. WCF supports WS -* standard for messaging, security, and reliability, with much broader feature set than ASP.NET Web Services.
We use Web Services in both external client projects and own products, especially where the client-server architecture is used. Use of Web Services creates platform-independence, additional security, and maintainability. We also use Web Services to communicate and exchange data between different technology platforms, such as .NET and PHP.
We have created RESTful Web Service interfaces on existing .NET and PHP application backend (data and business logic layers), so that it can be accessed and integrated with other applications, such as other web-based applications or even mobile apps. We can expand the lifespan and value of old yet useful applications by adding a Web Service interface and making it available to client applications on various platforms. Rather than migrating or rebuilding the whole system, this provides great benefit at lesser cost, delay, and risk.
